It’s the bride-groom’s wedding song, a short, sweet folk song from the 70′s. The cake would be 3 tiers, all simple and white and the lyrics would be etched in black script lettering into the cake.
I think it’ll be really beautiful. What do you think?

idk….. i can picture it looking horrendous and then if done perfectly right it can look ok…. but it wouldnt be something id go for personally but if you guys like it go for it.
I like the idea. I think the best location for the lyrics would be around the outside of the cake starting at the top and working their way down to the bottom. I think it will be beautiful. Good luck with the design.
Just do it along the edges of the cake in small text. It could look cute that way.
I LOVE IT! I actually just saw a picture of this yesterday.. and thought “Wow, what a neat idea.” Only theirs had like scriptures and things related to love on it. It was done in like a gold or dark yellow and it looked lovely. The only thing I’m questioning is you doing it in black? But it all depends on your wedding colors. If you think black will go.. then ok.. but I’d try to figure a different color for the lettering.. like maybe silver??
Cakes with words piped onto the sides can be quite breathtaking. Some examples that come into memory:
Good luck!
i love the idea and think it will be gorgeous! =) i say go for it!
That style was actually very popular a few years ago and it looked fine to me from the pictures that I saw. As long as the script isn’t thick icing, I don’t see what the problem is. Go for it if that’s what you want.
I think it could be pretty IF you have a really fantastic baker.
Piping text in frosting is DIFFICULT and can look really sloppy if the person doesn’t have a very steady hand. There’s also a lot of room for error – if they misspell a word, there’s no “delete” key – it’s just going to have to be misspelled.
So if you’re getting a cake like this, ask for samples of the bakery’s piping work first. And if you’re getting the cake from someplace like a grocery store, I wouldn’t even attempt it.
My cousin got married last weekend and his cake had writing piped all over it with words like “Love” “Laughter” “Friendship” “Happiness” “Joy” etc in white – the same color as the cake. It was subtle and looked pretty, and the decorator piped the text on perfectly. So it can be done. But as always, buyer beware.
